Hi friends,

As you all know that we're holding a LUG meet on 11th, here is a quick update
on the same.

It purrs. It hums. It mesmerizes. It is ... FEDORA CORE FOUR.
The powerful new distro from Redhat which is a complete set of latest bleeding
edge technology and the choice among a score of applications for each job,
FC4 is certainly a favorite. Some people feel it is faster than any Fedora
ever before, while others term it the 'most complete OS' ever. No doubt it
runs most Linux systems in IIIT and outside.

Ubuntu ... Linux for Human Beings.
The ease of use, the APTness, the automatic configuration along with its
program to 'freely distribute CDs' has certainly attracted people to use
Ubuntu. The clean and fast OS based on Debian is converting a lot of faithful
Fedora users on its side.

Which one is better? What are the features provided by each, exclusively and
by both? What other factors govern the popularity of these? What applications
do you like in them? How easy is it do things in them? How fast they are? How
do you like the logo of each? ... the war goes on. In the coming LUG meet, we
are going to have a few people (1-2 on each side) speak for and against these
distros in a debate followed by a public discussion on the same.

The speakers can give their names by today evening (10th), and others are
requested to come with some points in mind to raise and discuss.

Apart from this, we'll have usual talks. Anyone can speak on whatever Linux
related topic he/she wants to. Some of the topics could be some particular
software you like, its features, some new scripting platform or methodology
that you might want to describe, some good news about Linux that you might
want to share, or anything else that comes to your mind. Speakers for this
should also give their names till evening.

We hope that this LUG meet paves a way for the future discussions and events
in LUG.

Regards,
LUG Admin and Mods.
